Terms of Use
Last updated: October 9, 2026
These terms apply when you use Hearth Chess (the "site"). By creating an account or using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Using the site
- You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
- Give accurate information, keep your password private, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Pick a username that is not offensive and does not pretend to be someone else.
What not to do
- Do not try to break, overload, scan or gain unauthorised access to the site or other members' accounts.
- Do not use bots or scripts to play, to create accounts in bulk, or to copy the site's content.
- Do not harass other members or use the site for anything unlawful.
- Do not submit fake results to climb a leaderboard. We may correct or remove results that look manipulated.
The coaching is guidance, not a guarantee
Game grades, evaluations, commentary and training suggestions are produced automatically by a chess engine and rule-based coaching. They can be wrong or incomplete. The site is for learning and enjoyment. Ratings shown here are for this site only and are not official chess ratings.
Your content
You keep ownership of your games and anything you write (such as a profile bio). You give us permission to store and process them so we can run the site for you, including showing the parts you choose to make visible to others.
Availability and changes
We aim to keep the site running but cannot promise it will always be available or error free. We may change, pause or end features, and may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms. You can delete your own account at any time in Settings.
No warranty and limit of liability
The site is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.
Privacy
How we handle your information is described in the Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If the change is meaningful we will update the date above and tell members. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
